A wise man once said that if a book was not worth reading twice, it was not worth reading once. I’ve read Professional Troublemaker by Luvvie Ajayi twice since I found it and I don’t regret it. The wise man was right!
As I read this book, I felt that Luvvie wasn’t just speaking to me, but stirring and shifting things inside of me. Her voice was strong, yet comforting. It was loud, yet quiet.
My honest review
I haven’t read any of her books before, but it felt good to start with this one. This book is for everyone interested in fighting their fears and moving to great heights despite the curve balls thrown at them. It is a book for everyone ready to show up as their best selves.
This is a book that will teach you a lot about self-love. She wrote in her book: “Owning your dopeness is not about being liked by others, it’s about being liked by you first”

You will learn that others aren’t responsible for your happiness, but you are. You will understand that people will always take from an interaction whatever they want, and it is totally out of your control and good intentions.

It is a book that will teach you how to embrace fear because there’s no such thing as fearlessness. It doesn’t exist. However, you must decide that fear will never be in your way.
You will learn the importance of drawing your lines and setting boundaries because it’s possible to be social or visible and still keep some space to yourself.
She advised in her book: ”We cannot assume everyone is operating from the same understanding. We do not operate from the same mind frame. It is our duty to be intentional about speaking our boundaries out loud. We gotta speak up about the things or space we need from people.”
Own your dopeness
If you struggle with self-confidence, she will inject in you some doses of self-confidence because if you believe you’re the dopest thing walking, you will convince people of the same. If you believe you deserve to be in every room you find yourself in, you will be more comfortable sharing your offer.
You will learn to speak of yourself and your work with grace and dignity. You will become comfortable while asking for what you’re worth because no one is doing you a favor by hiring you as far as you deliver good work.

You will begin to speak your truth because the highest form of courage is being radically honest and transparent, and even though your voice shakes when you tell the truth, you should do it regardless.
A must read
Professional Troublemaker by Luvvie Ajayi is not a book you read once. It is a book you read as much as ten times, so you can internalize all she has written, to the extent that you begin to hear her words in your head.
